In the meantime, I have two new additions that will hopefully hold you over. The first is a quick peek at the back cover of Gary: Book One
The second addition are images from a series of work I've been making involving cubes. I added about 4 of the images to the 'other' section. Here is the quick link: Again, I apologize for the lack of contact. Please hang in there for the printed copies. I'll have more info soon. - Tyrell

That's right, printing! More info on that soon. Thanks for reading all! - Tyrell
6/6/10 Hello! The new installment of Gary is finally ready for viewing! I apologize for the hiatus. Gary should be back on a regular 2 week release schedule from here till the end of Chapter 2. 5/8/10 Here is the newest installment: In other news, this week I had privilege of attending two great art events. First up, I went up to Northwestern University's Block Museum for a panel discussion featuring the likes of Chris Ware, Anders Nilsen, Jeffrey Brown, and Ivan Brunetti. Great discussion was had and wisdom was shared. Good stuff. The very next day , I had the opportunity to hear a conversation with Chuck Close at the Art Institute of Chicago. I had never heard Chuck speak before, but he was very funny and gave a lot of insight into his methods of working and how they have changed throughout his life. Also good stuff! Thanks for reading this week. More to come soon. In the meantime, here is another simon image for ya!

10/21/09 Just got back from San Francisco and the Alternative Press Expo 2009! It was my first time attending APE and my first time in San Francisco. I'll try not to go into too much boring detail, but here's the quick and dirty... CONGRATS... First off, congratulations to fellow SAIC alumni Jeremy Tinder and Grant Reynolds on their show at Giant Robot. I was able to make it out to the show and they both had some great work on display. Grant also just released his book 'Comic Diorama' through Top Shelf. It's a great read so please make sure to pick it up! PANELS... Next up, I had a great time attending a few of the panels/spotlights at APE. I found the 'Batton Lash spotlight', 'webcomics panel', and 'Indie Cartoonist Survival Guide' to be super helpful and interesting. One of the big draws to all conventions for me is the chance to hear other artists speak. APE was no exception. ART... Which leads to the best part of the con for me, speaking with comics creators! I was both humbled and amazed by the work I saw at APE. There are so many talented and unique creators making work right now, and so many of them had tables at APE. I particularly wanted to say a HUGE thanks specifically to those people who took the time to discuss their work with me: Tom Manning, Michael Manomivibul, Marc Bell, Will Dinski, Jon Adams, Grim Wilkins, Miriam Libicki, Susie Cagle, Brandon Dayton, Jed Alexander, Reid Psaltis, Sophia Wiedeman, and Cat Lauigan. And I'm sure I've missed some. I actually liked what I saw so much, I added a long overdue 'comics' section to my links page, with links to these folks' work. Please look: I wrote my impressions of their work along with each link. Plus I got to talk for a minute with my favorite artist at the moment, Anders Nilsen, while he signed the newest issue of 'Big Questions' for me. SAN FRAN... It was okay. The public transit was dissappointing. The seafood was not. The museums were on par, but not amazing. The weather was perfect. FINALLY... Where is the new Gary??? I'll have the next episode posted by the end of the week. Though that is actually ahead of schedule, it feels like it's been too long since the last post. Keep comin' back to check, or I can add you to the update list. Just shoot me an email at uberartist18@gmail.com. That's all for now! Make sure to check out those links! -Tyrell
10/13/09 Hey all! Updates to the GARY section of the site today. I'll be releasing new installments of Gary bi-weekly now. 3/21/09 Finally a new update of the site! It's been a sorry state of affairs here, with no updates for about 6 months. Plans are underway to be updating more often. Please tell me what you think of the changes, particularly the new front page! In particular, check out the new work I put up in the "other" section HERE. The other news is that I am fortunate enough to be involved in an installation at the SAIC BFA Exhibition. Two friends of mine who are graduating this year, Beth Hetland and Kyle O'Connell, have a comic book library on display. Their space has a few chairs next to a large bookshelf full of comics. On the shelves, you'll find great little comics from myself, Beth and Kyle (of course), Joey Jacks, Anders Nilsen, and many talented SAIC students. If you make it to the BFA exhibition, be sure to swing by their space and check it out. I'm honored to be a part of this wonderful project. Beyond that, expect more news coming in the form of new comics and updates to the "other" section. Peace, -Tyrell (hair like a shark's fin)

The first is part of a series exploring some of the philosophical ideas of Nietzsche. The series is called "How One Philosophizes with a Hammer" and the first part is "You See Not What you Know" Check it out! Next, I added a link to the blog for Esther Kang's artwork. A beautiful mix of photo, prose, and installation. Look at it HERE. Also, I added a link to a colleague named John Sisson, who is a great photographer. Please check out the link to his stuff HERE. Finally, there is also a new backslash homies up HERE. Enjoy! -Tyrell

Please check them out and let me know what you think! - I added a "news" section at the top of the homepage, so click that for all new updates. - If you were wondering if I'd ever put the final cut of "watch clark" up, it is now UP! I've been posting more regular on my xanga blog, so please check it out for chip reviews, movie reviews and other random stuff (maybe pics of the new apartment!?). So yeah, I've moved into my new apt. on the north side of Chi-town. I'll still be working at SAIC in a new capacity, so still not making art full time. Some day! Well give me some feedback when you get a chance. -Tyrell |
